The town of Southampton is located in southeastern Suffolk County New York partly on the South Fork of Long Island. The town is home to about 55,000 residents and is one of ten towns located in the County. However, during the summer, Southampton’s population can double due to the large number of summer residences located in the area. It is located within 80 miles of bustling New York City, making it possible for residents to drive between the Southampton and New York City fairly conveniently. The town encompasses a beautiful 140 square miles and is bordered by Brookhaven to the west, East Hampton to the east, and the Great and Little Peconic Bays and the Town of Riverhead to the north. South of Southampton are the bays of Moriches, Shinnecock, Mecox, and the Atlantic Ocean.
